DoAT The Evolution of Mobile Search

Recently launched at the TechCrunch Disrupt event in NYC, DoAT is a free mobile search experience for iOS, unlike any other.

DoAT users start the process by typing a search query which can be anything from a movie to an artist, brand, product or service.  Normally search results would bring up a series of links which may or may not lead to mobile optimized websites. The difference with DoAT is that instead of useless links, search results appear as very relevant web-apps which creates a seamless experience.

A perfect example is searching for the word “hamburger @restaurants” which brings up the Yelp, Foodspotting and the Foursquare mobile- optimized web sites, among others.

A neat feature in the app is the use of the heart icon which lets you to select your favorite web apps, as well as login to Facebook to discover apps hearted by your Facebook friends. Social integration at its finest.

The team at DOAT who I personally had the pleasure of meeting, are hard at work delivering their mobile discovery solution across other mobile OS’s.  In the meantime, iOS users, this is one app you’ll definitely be using regularly.
